The Monts d’Ardèche Regional Natural Park

The Monts d’Ardèche Regional Natural Park

Thanks to its art of living, its rich heritage and its wide open spaces, the Ardèche has over time revealed itself as an exceptional territory. This recognition embodied in the creation of the Monts d’Ardèche Regional Natural Park in 2001. The territory of the park then evolved to include some municipalities of Haute Loire department in the Massif du Mezenc.

The Monts d’Ardèche Regional Natural Park is managed by a joint Syndicate which brings together the 146 signatory municipalities, two gateway cities (Privas and Aubenas), the Ardèche department, the Haute Loire department, and the Auvergne Rhône-Alpes Region.

The identity of Mont d’Ardèche is based on strong common characteristics : landscapes, rural know-how, volcanism, rivers, blueberry and chestnut production, religious history, mills, terraces, etc…

The quality and the international value of its geological heritage and landscapes earned the Park to be registered by UNESCO as a UNESCO Global Geopark in 2014.
